This exotic forest is a prime example of Cloud forest, also called Dwarf forest and Elfin forest. Conditions for plant life are very stressful here due to the amount of wind and rain, so plants have adapted in unique ways. Mist usually swirls through this forest. The walk from the parking up to the La Roca trail is about 1 1/2 hours up!. ( or another 45 minutes above Mt. Britton).
